The story of Modern Yoga Philosophy and how it was shaped by both East and West — and the dialogue between these two worlds — has long been overlooked as we have come to take many things for granted in our concepts of yoga philosophy.
This 90 minute talk explores the recent history of yoga philosophy — how and why yoga philosophy was embraced by the American Transcendentalists Emerson and Thoreau, translated and promoted by the Theosophists, popularized by Swami Vivedananda, and brought into the realm of social reform in India — and where yoga philosophy can go from here.
